  FOLKLORIC AND MEDIEVAL FESTIVALS IN LUNIGIANA

Different cultures and zone of passage during centuries, the Lunigiana preserves popular and medieval festivals and traditions, above all gastronomic, following the rhythm of the seasons during the year.
Every village of the Lunigiana has its festival, rich of traditional folklore. In January in Pontremoli, the bonfire of the parisches of Sant'Antonio and San Gemignano. In February, the festival of the "Chiodo di maiale" in Quercia di Aulla; in april the festival of the Onion of Treschietto. In May, the Festival of the Daffoldis in the Prati di Logarghena and in june, the Festival of the "Polenta e lo Stoccafisso" in Gassano of Fivizzano. With the beginning of the summer, the festivals multiplies. The first week-end of July takes place the magical "Festa della Fame e della Sete" in the mediavl village of Filattiera. In the same month the festival of the "Anguille" (eels) in Gassano and the festival of the Testaroli in Fosdinovo. In August, the Mercato Medievale in Filetto and the medieval "Arti e Mestieri" in Ponticello of Filattiera and the of the Panigaccio in Podenzana. And above in Filetto of Villafranca, the more famous fair of the zone: the "Fiera di San Ggenesio". In september, in Mignegno of Pontremoli the festival of Saint Terenziano and in Monti di Licciana the Boletus Festival. In October and November the chestnut is the queen in Fosdinovo, Comano, Bagnone, Pontremoli and Licciana Nardi. In December, the holy represantation in Equi terme.
