  CAVEZZANA GORDANA

Cavezzana Gordana Cavezzana Gordana
Cavezzana Gordana is situated in the valley of the stream Gordana and it is divided in superior Villa and inferior Villa. In the vilalge, the ancient church of Saint Maria Assunta preserves a statue of the "Madonna with the Bambinello", remembered in a 1684 document.
Nearby it can be admired the Gorges of Giaredo, small and suggestive canyons, partially dug out from the watercourse during the years, reaching up to 50 meters, so close one to each other in some parts, to let only filter thin rays of light. To reach them from Pontremoli, you have to coast along the stream Gordana ona a country tarmac road for about 1,5 km, arriving to a group of houses and seeing the inhabited area of Cavezzana on the left. Then you abandon the asphalted road that climbs toward Dozzano and continue almost straight along a pathway downwards. You go ahead as far as a gate at the edge of a pasture, if open it is posisible to proceed by car, but a sign warns about the possibility of floods. Arrived in an open space, it is posible to park and proceed down along the pebbly shore of the Gordana on foot. After few hundred meters toward right, it appears the entrance of the Gorges of Giaredo. It is posible to walk up to the end of the last gorge and return in aproximately a hour and half. The first part is easy and the water almost never pass the knee, while the second part presents several dificultéis and you need to swim among the two walls.
