  LINARI

The ruins of the abbey of Linari The ruins of the abbey of Linari
The medieval village of Linari is famous for the rests of the Benedictine abbey of Saint Bartolomeo, dating back to the XI century. It was an important center towards the Lagastrello pass, in a variant of the Francigena road. The first written testimony was in 1077, where Emperor Arrigo IV gave the suburb with other dominions to Marquises Ugo and Folco d'Este. The greater part of the documents present in the abbey is now in the convent of the Agostiniani of Fivizzano since the end of the XVI century.
