  MOCHIGNANO

Mochignano Chiesa Mochignano Chiesa
Mochignano is divided in four fractions, Mochignano Alto, the native nucleus, Mochignano di Sotto or Chiesa, Cā Zani and Cā Maffei. The origin of its name is paradoxically due to the disappearance of another small suburb, Paneschio, buried from a landslide. The near suburb of Agnano became Monco of Agnano, and then Moncognano, Mocognano and finally Mochignano.
The church of Saint Maria Assunta was built on an ancient construction, risen before 1200 and devoted to St. Bernardo.
