Lunigiana view Lunigiana view
Orturano includes the suburbs of canale, Giunasco, Nombria and Vaggia. Orturano followed in 1351 the destiny of the Malaspinas of Filattiera. With the subdivision of the fief among various descendants, it passed under Malgrate. At the beginning of the XVI century, the Malaspina branch of Malgrate extinguished and Orturano passed under the Ariberti of Cremona family, and then toward the end of the XVII century to the Freganeschi.
The church is devoted to “Saint Maria Assunta in Cielo” dates back to the XVI century. It has a Greek cross structure and a Baroque style.
