  NOCE DI ZERI

Noce di Zeri Noce di Zeri
Noce is located in the valley of Zeri, along the road that leads to the Passo del Rastrello, towards the Vara valley. The village perhaps owns its name to a walnut tree wood that was close to it, as Carlo Caselli maintains during his stay in Lunigiana reported in the book "Lunigiana Ignota".
Noce is composed of two suburbs, separated by a small channel. The upper part is the main one, characterized by sandstone houses with "piagne" coverage, several archivolts and the oratory of the Virgin Mary. The churhc has one nave with the portal bearing an engraving of 1636 surmounted by a beautiful statue of the Madonna. On the other hand, in the low part of Noce rises the oratory of the Holy Spirit, very similar in structure and size as the previous one, with a beautiful facade.
Nearby the river Gordana descends very suggestive to the Magra river. There are also some old mills along the torrent.
