THE NATIONAL TRANSPORT MUSEUM
The National Transport Museum opened in Spezia in 1986. Originally dedicated solely to trolleybuses, the museum later expanded to include vehicles on wheels and trains. The museum now has exhibitions in the historical hangar belonging to the ATC and in a special undercover area in Santo Stefano Magra.
The collection currently comprises of 16 trolleybuses, 40 inter and outer-city buses, 3 trams, 8 service vehicles, 7 locomotives and 5 railway carriages. The trolleybus section is the main attraction, although the railway section is also very popular due to the fact that it is possible to take a trip on the 1920s locomotive, which takes passengers on a ride along the Aulla-Lucca line.
