THE CASTLE OF TRESANA

The castle of Tresana

The castle of Tresana is today a ruin situated on a hill dominating the hamlet below. It was probably founded by the Longobards and has been possession of Federico Barbarossa and Obizzano Malaspina of Mulazzo.
The castle has a parallelepiped base and is overlooked by a quadrangular tower. The fief had the privilege of minting coins, which in Lunigiana was exclusively reserved to the Massa and Fosdinovo feuds.
