COMANO
The tower of Comano
Comano, in the high valley of the Taverone torrent, is on the borders with the province of Parma and Reggio Emilia. The territory, mainly mountainous, is characterized by valleys and streams. Numerous paths allow tourists to practise trekking, enjoying incredible panoramas.
In the village, on the left we find the town hall and the main square, near the Church of Saint George (IX century). More ahead, we find the cylindrical tower, last witness of the ruined castle. Near the pass of the Lagastrello, at 1200 meters, we can visit the lake Paduli. From the pass of the Lagastrello it is possible to carry out excursions and arrive to Prato Spilla and its sky station. Interesting as well, the ruin of the castle of Groppo San Pietro, the village of Camporaghena and the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.
The main monument of the town is the castle of Comano, with the fascinating ruins and the high tower. Nearby, there are villages as Torsana and Camporaghena.
