The medieval suburb of Castiglioncello is located on the right side of the Aulella stream. Its houses are structured as a defensive walled. The suburb was founded by the Malaspinas of Fosdinovo in the XV century and after passing under the Medici family, a lot of country houses were turned into noble residences.
