LUSIGNANA

Lusignana
Lusignana

Lusignana is located in the valley of the Caprio stream. It is composed by two localities: Vignolo and Posponte. The valley has pastures, meadows and green woods, run by numerous little streams.
The village has ancient origins, especially Posponte. It was dominion of marquis Spinetta Malaspina of Fosdinovo and then of the Republic of Florence in 1477. In 1549 it was part of the fief of Filattiera of marquis Bernabò , that sold it to Cosimo I.
The parish church dedicated to the SS. Vincenzo and Anastasio is situated half way the two localities. In the suburb it is possible to visit (only in August during the festivity of the village) the collection of objects and tools of the peasant civilization of the high Caprio Valley, entitled to Mario Nadotti.
The ruins of an old "castellaro", Montecastello (VI-VII century), are found at the control of the road leading from Filattiera to Parma, through the pass of the Ciron.
