  THE CASTLE OF BASTIA

The castle of Bastia The castle of Bastia
The castle of Bastia rises in the center of the same medieval suburb in the valley of the river Taverone, almost in front of Licciana. It is situated in a strategical position dominating an important road towards the pass of Lagastrello. The castle is well preserved and it is today a private residence. The original structure is almost invisible today, and the castle as it appears dates back to the XV century. It is structured in a square fortification, with four round towers to all sides and a bigger one inside, the keep. In the bastionated walls are remarkable the loopholes and gunholes suited for the use of fire weapons, very likely a 16th century's addition.
The castle is private property. It is possible to visit previously calling: 0187 474199 or 339 7289282.
