THE CASTLE OF OLIVOLA
The ruins of the castle of Olivola

The castle of Olivola dominated from a tall hill the whole valley of Taverone and Aulella. It belonged to the Malaspinas of the "Spino Fiorito" and constituted a big feud in the XIV century.
Nowadays only remain few traces of the imponent construction that it was: ruins of its mighty boundaries and two big circular towers. In 1920 the castle suffered the earthquake that strucked this part of Lunigiana.
