CISIGLIANA
Cisigliana
Cisigliana derives its name from an ancient Roman fund called "Caecilius." It is located three kilometers from Bastia on the Bocchio mountain and it rises next the "Torre Nocciola" (Brown Tower), old medieval fortitude, of which the base remains only. Cisigliana also includes the suburb of Paretola.
Cisigliana is formed by low houses in stone. The parish church of St. Lawrence was restructured in 1728 on the preexisting Romanesque church. Following the restoration, the church saw a change of orientation, the Romanesque apse of the ancient building was englobed in the northern side.
