Collesino

The village of Collesino has ancient origins. Its parish was already mentioned in 1287. After 1100 Collesino belonged to the marquises Malaspina, which strengthened the most advanced point of the hamlet, the actual place of Castle. In 1348, it was part of the fief of Bagnone, with Compione, Mochignano and Pastina. Since then, the village followed the destiny of Bagnone up to the Italian unification. The actual parish church is devoted to St. Giacomo Apostolo and dates back to 1600. It is characterized by an ample central aisle, with a beautiful altar in white marble of Carrara and a valuable XVI century picture, representing the Madonna of the Rosario.
