CORLAGA
Corlaga is an ancient malaspinian feud located north of Bagnone. Around 1200, the parish of the village depended on the parish of Filattiera, passing then in the XV century under the dependences of the parish of Bagnone.
Corlaga was part of the fief of Treschietto, and became independent after the death of Giovanni Malaspina "il Berretta". His child Leonardo became marquis of Corlaga in 1523, due to his cruelty, the people rebelled with the "motions of Corlaga". The riots were instigated by the Commissioner of the Florentine republic in Bagnone. The marquis and his heirs were slaughtered and the castle destroyed. The fief passed under Florence despite the protests of the Marquises of Treschietto, legitimate heirs, to the emperor. In 1551, an accord was stipulated between marquis Leonardo's heirs and Florence, in which the first ones abdicated all the pretensions on Corlaga.
The parish church, devoted to St. Pietro Apostolo, is placed in the center of the village and its construction probably dates back again to the XVI century.
