Marciaso

Marciaso is located along the Bardine stream, in the middle of a forest of chestnut trees. In the Middle Ages the fief was divided between the Malaspina and for Bishops of Luni. In 1393, Marciaso passed to Spinetta Malaspina and remain under control of the fief of Fosdinovo.
In the village it is possible to visit the XVII century church of San Bartolomeo and the bell tower, detached from it. It is diveded in two parts, inferior and superior.
Marciaso is sadly famous for the destruction operated by the Germans in the second world war.
