TRESCHIETTO
Treschietto is located in a remarkable strategic position, dominating the ways coming down from the Orsaro Mountain towards the bagnone valley. In the suburb we can find the imponent ruins of the XIV century castle.
Historically, Treschietto belonged to the dominion of the marquises Malaspina of the "Spino Fiorito" of Filattiera. Following the 1351 division, the fief was ruled by Giovanni Malaspina "il Beretta", that built the castle. In 1698, the marquis Ferdinando Malaspina, the last of the dynasty, sold Treschietto to Cosimo III, causing a dispute among the Malaspina of Filattiera. At first, the emperor Charles VI gave the fief to Bernabò Malaspina of Filattiera, but at his death, he took possession of it.
The castle of Treschietto is also famous for a legend of a cruel marquis, Giovan Gasparro Malaspina who from 1616 made the life of the vassals impossible in every way.
