VILLA DI TRESANA
Villa is located in the northern part of the territory, on the left of the Osca stream, on the border with Calice al Cornoviglio in Val di Vara.
The suburb is embellished by the XIV century castle. It has quadrangular shape, with two imponent cylindrical towers.
In the Middle Ages, Villa was part of the Malaspina fief that comprehended Lusuolo, Podenzana, Castevoli, and Villafranca. In 1355, Federico Malaspina became Lord of the Villafranca fief, with Villa and Castevoli. The suburb passed in 1416 to the Campofregoso of Genoa, again to the Malaspina in 1486 and finally in the XVII century to the Medici family, even though the power was still held by the Malaspina until the arrival of Napoleon.
