Vinca and the Apuane

Vinca is part of a mountainous landscape dominated by the Pizzo d’Uccello, of the Cresta Garnerone and of the Mount Sagro. The small community received a noble visit when Niccolò Machiavelli was sent by Florece to stop the various fights for the pastures.
The parish church of Saint Andrea keeps a few signs of the original Romanesque structure.
During the Second World War, Vinca suffered one of the most horrible mass slaughter when the German army retreated to north.
