THE TOWER HOUSES
The tower house of Ponticello

In the low valley of the torrent Caprio, stand various tower houses as witness of a difficul medieval period. They are datable to the XIV century, or the beginning of the XV. The toser houses are squared base, constituted from a ground floor without doors and windows, accessible only from the inside, a main door approachable by wood stairs, two higher floors with small windows and inner scales. Their presence in this zone is explained because in the Middle Ages represented the border between the fief of Filattiera and the "Comune" of Pontremoli.
