The castle of Pontebosio

Pontebosio owes its name to the bridge built by the Bosi family, masters of the Verrucola of Fivizzano in the XI-XII century, before the ascent of the Malaspinas in Lunigiana. The suburb is dominated by the XVII century castle, with four quadrangular towers. In front of the fortification stands the castle of Poderetto, built by the Malaspinas of Podenzana to limit the marquises of Pontebosio, but ever completed and today a private house. It became an independent fief in 1631 under Ludovico Malaspina.
The Baroque church of the Beata Vergine del Carmine was built in 1725 by Ferdinando Malaspina.
